High Times.....Gig In The Sky.

Yesterday , the band Jamiroquai got themselves put in the Guiness Book of World Records. How , you may ask? Sony Ericsson customised a specially chartered plane for Jamiroquai yesterday. They ripped out the firt 6 or 7 rows of passenger seats and built a mini-stage for Jamiroquai. Jamiroquai then performed a 6 song mini-concert in the air as the plane traveled from Munich to Athens. This put Jamiroquai in the Guiness Book of World Records for having performed the highest gig ever. At least the highest gig ever that did NOT involve illegal drugs! After touching down in Athens , Jamiroquai performed an afterparty concert.

Bold As Love! The John Mayer Concert Review.

Tonight's concert was a much needed blast of enjoyment for me. I was able to get a friend of mine from work to go to the concert with me tonight. The show started at 7:30 p.m. Mat Kearney was the opening act. He mixes rock music with a bit a hip-hop influenced rhymes/spoken word lyrics in his music. He put on a pretty good show that lasted a little over 45 minutes. John Mayer took the stage about 8:50 p.m. He led off the show with the song "Belief" from his Continuum cd. He followed that with "Waiting On The World To Change". That got a big roar from the crowd. The more I listen to that song , the more I like it. The crowd really liked that song. He followed that with "Good Love Is On The Way" from his John Mayer Trio cd. "Why Georgia" was next up. I don't know anyone (especially female fans of John Mayer) who don't love to sing along to that song! John's guitar skills were on display as he went blues with "I Don't Trust Myself With (Loving You)". I love that song! He followed up with "I'm Gonna Find Another You". On his Continuum cd , that songs lasts less than 3 minutes. In concert , he plays a great guitar solo and turns the song into an extended groove. When that song ended , my friend turned to me and said , "That was awesome." John then switched gears and went back to the "Heavier Things" cd with the songs "Clarity" and "Bigger Than My Body". "Clarity" is another nice song to sing or hum along to , while "Bigger Than My Body" is a nice uplifting song. John then went "way back" to the "Room For Squares" era by playing "No Such Thing" which is still a fan favorite. "Vultures" was the next song John played. That is another nice groove from his "Continuum" cd. John closed the main set list with the song "Gravity". That is obviously a personal favorite of John's and it has become an anthem-like song for John at his concerts. After "Gravity" , John and his band left the stage. John returned alone about 5 minutes later to begin the show's encore. He kicked off the encore with "Wait Until Tomorrow" followed by the Jim Hendrix cover "Bold As Love". After that , he was joined on stage by another band member. They began playing guitar together as John sang o/ We've got the afternoon , you've got this room for two...o/' Yep , "Your Body Is A Wonderland". Needless to say , that made the many females in the audience get up and cheer. John closed the show with the song "In Repair". The concert ended shortly before 10:30. If you get a chance to see John in concert , I highly recommend going!

Sold Down The River.

On Monday of this week , it was announced that the plant I work at (Southview) was sold by Johnson Controls to a company called Plastech. But wait , that wasn't true. In 2001 Johnson Controls signed a contract with Plastech. This contract had some sort of promise of future business in it. Basically , Plastech is a supplier of JCI and JCI promised to give them future business. Well , here we are 6 years later. Apparently , JCI never fulfilled the promise of giving Plastech future business. How could they make up for this? Well , they decided to "contract" 4 JCI plants (including Southview) to Plastech. Confused yet? JCI still owns all 4 buildings (Including Southview) , but they all will now be considered Plastech facilities. What's this mean? It means: I no longer will be working for JCI as of April 23rd. I will be considered a employee of Plastech. That is , if I fill out an application with Plastech. Instead of being a JCI plant , my plant will now be considered a "supplier" to JCI. Last night , we had a "question and answer" meeting with our plant manager. It was mainly a chance for her to go over all the questions that people want asked of and answered by Plastech. There are over 200 questions on the list so far. The meeting was full of a lot of angry people. One woman said that she quit Plastech years ago so she could work at JCI. She didn't like working for Plastech. Well , now she will be working for Plastech again! She was pretty angry about that. There are a lot of people who are upset right now. Lots of questions , few answers. The biggest question is: What about our wages and benefits? How much of a pay cut will we be forced to take? The plant manager said that she doesn't know yet. Plastech doesn't know yet. As for health benefits? They pay a lot more for insurance at Plastech than we do at JCI , so that will go up. Plus , Plastech does not offer dental insurance. We have always had dental insurance. Also asked: Why Southview? Why are we becoming part of Plastech? There had to have been some other way to go about this. But instead , they sold us down the river.

Real Life.

I must be living in a cave or something. Last night I found out that a woman I am friends with at work is battling breast cancer. It has spread to her lymphnodes. Last night was her final night of work for awhile. She is going to undergo treatments , chemotherapy and have a tumor removed as well. I stopped by where she works before leaving work this morning. She was reading a card that someone had given her. I'm never good at expressing myself at times like this , but I wanted to say something to her. I wished her well. That was all that I could think of to say. She said that everyone was going to make her cry. She is planning on returning to work. I hope that my "goodbye" this morning turns into a "see you later".

She's International.

Now that I am recovered from Saturday night , I thought that I would post about the night that it was. If you've been following my posts here , you'll remember how I went out just over two weeks ago and met a friend of mine at a pizza place/bar in Holland. On Saturday , I called my friend and left a message for her on her cell phone. She later sent me a text message to tell me that she and a friend were going out to a bar in Grand Rapids on Saturday night. After text messaging back and forth with my friend , I agreed to meet her at a bar called Putt-Putts at 9:00 p.m. I was at the bar from shortly after 9:00 until it closed at 2:00 a.m. There were many things that happened during the time I was at the bar. Some good , some bad. LaBatt Blue was my drink of choice as well as a few different shots. My friend offered to let me stay at her place for the night so I wouldn't have to drive back to Holland. After she made the offer , I decided that it really didn't matter how much I drank at the bar. My friend was looking blazing hot on Saturday night! She was wearing low rise jeans , a white button down sweater with a black sleeveless top underneath it and nice boots. God bless the person who invented low rise jeans. I never thought I'd say that , but damn! My friend has gone from being a woman who I thought was cute , to being a woman who I think is super-hot and want really bad! At the end of the night at the bar , some other male friend of her and her friend showed up. So , the plans for the end of the night got changed. The other guy and I left our cars in the parking lot at the bar. I rode with my friend and the other guy rode with my friend's friend. We all went to the house of my friend's friend. My friend and I stopped for tacos before we went to her friend's house. I participated in my friend's late night prank phonecall antics on the way to her friend's house. My friend (who is Korean) likes to speak with an accent and pretend that she is a doctor and prank call her friends. On Saturday night , she called her friends and I spoke in an accent and left messages on her friend's answering machines. I almost made my friend pee her pants because I was coming up with some great stuff while doing the prank calls. We got to her friend's house and ate some tacos and tortilla chips. We played a bit of poker and then I ended up watching tv until 6:00 a.m. Nothing else happened. I barely slept at all. My friend drove me back to my car later on Sunday morning. Before I said goodbye , I did ask her if she would like to go to the John Mayer concert with me on the 22nd. She is going to be getting back from vacation on the 21st , so it doesn't look good for my concert hopes. I just told her to give it some thought. If it doesn't happen , I've asked my best friend to keep the night of the concert open as a back-up plan for me. Anyway , that is the long/short story of my night.

Tales Of Life And Love.

It seems like the news of the world continues to be just as crazy as ever. Over the weekend , actor Ryan O'Neal was arrested after a domestic dispute with one of his sons. He alledges that his son attacked him with a fireplace poker , so he fired a gun to scare his son away. I guess that "Love means never having to call 911." In other news , Evangelical Minister Ted Haggard went through 3 weeks of intense therapy and now proclaims himself to be "completely heterosexual". Let me get this straight , pardon the joke. Ted Haggard goes to some place in Arizona and is given intense therapy by 3 or 4 different men and he is now competely heterosexual? I find it hard to believe that you can cure a man's homosexuality by sending him to some place where he is surrounded by men. Shouldn't they have sent Haggard to some other place instead? Maybe a strip club or at the very least , a Hooter's restaurant? Of course , with Valentine's on the horizon , Ted just cut his chances in half for being with someone special on Valentine's day. In other news , Lisa Novak , a crazed female astronaut was charged with attempted murder yesterday. As you all probably know , she sported a jr. detective disguise and made a failed attempt at kidnapping a woman who she thought was romantically linked to another astronaut Lisa Novak had feelings for. In her NASA picture Lisa Novak looks like a nice , happy woman. In her mug shot , she looks batshit crazy! This got me thinking about astronauts. What exactly do they do when they are on a space mission? I mean , do they have sex up in space? When you are up in space , it becomes a lot more than the *mile high club* , doesn't it? Also , when you are in space there's no gravity. How does that affect sex? Does it enhance it? Does it become floating sex? Well , that's it for today's tales of life and love.

It is so cold today....HOW COLD IS IT?!

I finally went outside today after spending over 48 hours inside hiding from the wicked weather we are having right. I went to lunch and then I got a few groceries. I also bought some gas for my car. I thought my face was going to freeze when I was pumping my gas. It is 3 degrees outside with a wind chill that makes it feel like it is -11 degrees outside. I took a few more pictures when I got home. It is still snowing here.

Myspace Has Been Erased.

After a few weeks of deliberation , I deleted my page at Myspace a few moments ago. I posted a bulletin a few weeks ago to alert people of this. One person replied back to me. That was it. I had gotten to the point where I did not care about at all about my page at Myspace . So , I cancelled my Myspace account today. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
